11 Unusual Low Calorie Snacks

Tomatoes & basil
Cut up some tomatoes, add some basil and a tiny amount of dressing or olive oil, and you have an easy snack... and remember, because tomatoes are so juicy, you really only need a very small amount of dressing because the tomato juice will help spread it around.

Apples & Cinnamon
Cut an apple into slices, spray lightly with non-fat cooking spray, and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Baked apples
Dice an apple, add splash of lemon juice, a bit of cinnamon and 1 tsp of brown sugar (be sure to measure, not guess!), mix and microwave for 2 minutes (watch carefully).

Frozen grapes
Love grapes but can't stop? Freeze them instead, and you can have a full cup for only 60 calories. When they are frozen, they take longer to eat and will fill you up faster. My favorite snack!

Fat free popcorn with topping
Yes, you can eat butter without drenching it in melted butter AND still have flavor. Or add a (very) small amount of popcorn topping, put a lid on your popcorn container and give it a good shake to spread it around.

Grapefruit juice
Not quite food, but for those craving sugary soda pop, this is a great substitute, a full cup is only 65 calories (make sure it isn't the sweetened grapefruit juice) and you can add another cup of water to dilute it if you wish and make it seem like more!

Soup
As long as you are looking at a broth based soup and not the creamed ones, soup can be quite a low calorie meal or snack. Just be aware of the sodium intake, as some soups are very high in sodium... or better yet, make it yourself!

Steamed cauliflower or brocolli
Instead of eating it raw and using high calorie dips, instead steam it and sprinkle with a small amount of low fat parmesan and salt and pepper to taste. Yum!

Sugar free jello
Most people associate jello with sugar and calories but the sugar free jello has only 80 calories for the entire box. Add some fruit, such as orange slices or chopped peaches/nectarines, and you have not only a healthy snack for you, but the family too. You can also set it in individual serving containers for easy on-the-go snacks too.

Blueberries
You can have a full cup of blueberries for only 65 calories. And not only are they a great snack, they have antioxidants and fiber too.

Giant dill pickles
Don't go for the mini ones, go for the giant dill pickles for a snack. They are fun to eat, have that satisfying crunch, and generally have about 5-10 calories per pickle.
