Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss

Post-pregnancy weight loss is difficult. And you will often hear "It took nine months to put it on, it will take at least nine months to take it off." But this is no longer realistic advice in today's appearance-driven society. And with a new baby, sleepless nights, and such an extreme and sudden change of routine, many new moms find themselves not losing weight, but actually gaining additional weight too!

This is coupled with the fact that many women return to their jobs after only six weeks off, and purchasing an entire new wardrobe for the second time in a year is expensive when you have a closet full of suitable work attire in your former size.

And after nine months of your body expanding to whole new proportions, many women are anxious to see their body's return to their former glory (or an even smaller version of!)

What can new mothers do to quickly bounce back to pre-pregnancy shape as quickly as possible?

Eat sensibly. Even though you are seemingly "on the run" 24 hours per day, take the time to fix yourself a nutritious meal utilizing many, if not all, the food groups. Fast food is okay for the occassional meal, but don't let it become any more than a once-in-a-while treat.

Drink a minimum of 8 8-oz glasses of water per day. It seems like a lot, but in actual fact, it isn't. Take the time to actually measure out 8 ounces of water. Many women discover that their water bottles actually hold three times as much as that!

Exercise regularly. Even grabbing the stroller and taking your new baby out on an hour long walk qualifies as exercise.

Add a health supplement that promotes metabolism and curbs appetite.

Discuss alternative weight loss methods with your physician or midwife.
